Field Sketching Meet-up: Grace Richardson Conservation Area

Join me for a field sketching meet-up walk at Grace Richardson Conservation Area in Fairfield! We will meet up at the parking area off of Morehouse Hwy (at the trail head — contact me if you need additional directions). We will then enter the conservation area together to observe and illustrate the plants, animals, and habitat. Common sightings in these woods include ovenbirds, warbling vireos, and wood thrush.

This is a casual sketching meet-up and not a class. We will walk together for a bit and then disperse.. At 10AM we will meet up again at the parking area and anyone interested in sharing their work will be encouraged to do so. 

Sketching walks are free and you may bring any sketching materials you prefer. Binoculars and folding/travel stools are recommended.

Nature Journaling

This is part 3 of a series of workshops I will be teaching at the Connecticut Audubon Center in Fairfield this June.
Find out how to create an illustrated journal to record your insights and observations from nature! Gather inspiration during a walk through the Larsen Sanctuary with your sketchbook and then move indoors to work on an illustrated journal entry. CT Audubon Members $15, Non-members $20. Adults only. Explore using your sketchbook to improve your observational skills and knowledge as a naturalist. You’ll take a walk through the Larsen Sanctuary with your sketchbook and learn about techniques and strategies for successful field sketching.  CT Audubon Members $15, Non-members $20. Field Sketching Meet-up: Hoyden's Hill

Join me for a field sketching meet-up at Hoydens Hill open space in Fairfield! We will meet up at the parking area near the driving range at North Street west of Morehouse Highway at 8AM and then enter the space together to observe and illustrate the plants, animals, and habitat. Coon sightings in the open space include Indigo Buntings, Great Crested Flycatchers, and various warblers.

Sketching Birds From Life

Join me for a field sketching walk at Devil's Den Nature Preserve in Weston! We will meet up at the parking area at the end of Pent Rd at 8AM and then enter the preserve together to observe and illustrate the plants, animals, and habitat. Common sightings include eastern wood-pewee, hermit thrush, and various woodpeckers.
